Missed last week? The Haves and the Have Nots 2015 Recap: S3 E13 – Two Funerals.
This week’s Haves and Have Nots episode finds the characters right back in the kitchen where we left them last week. Right as Wyatt Cryer was about to officially confess to Hanna Young that he was the one who hit Benny Young, his new suga mama Veronica Harrington steps in, telling Hanna that Katheryn Cryer needed her upstairs. When Hanna makes it all the way up, Veronica goes in! She starts tending to Wyatt’s wounds and talking to him about him snitching about everything that all of them worked so hard to keep hidden. Wyatt, who really just doesn’t care about anything anymore, tells her that she doesn’t scare him and he wants them all to pay. Veronica reminds simply lets him know that she’s a G and he better be careful, not to mention that she tells him that he will be someone’s girlfriend in prison. When he responds with a remark about Jeffrey Harrington and how he notices how uncomfortable she is whenever he’s around him, Veronica basically asks him if he’s sure he’s not gay. When Wyatt storms out, Veronica turns her attention to Jim Cryer. She ccongratulates him for beating Wyatt, but tells him that he needs to learn how to “beat him into submission.” She then advises Jim to show his son what prison is really like. Jim tells her that he would, but with Amanda’s funeral and everything falling apart, he’s just too tired. Guess what Veronica says – “When is the devil ever too tired to raise hell?” Messy. Just messy!
Next we’re taken to the grave site where they just buried Amanda Cryer – the fact that they didn’t show the funeral has me feeling some type of way, but it’s cool, I guess. Anyway, while people are heading back to their cars, Candice Young shows up and Hanna is the first one to spot her. She tries to tell her that she has no business being there, but Candice is low-key hype and is just itching for some petty drama. Candice walks up to the limo to give Katheryn her fake condolences. Instead of throwing shade like Veronica did a few minutes before, Katheryn took the high road and invited Candice to the house – something is definitely fishy! Hanna warns Candice not to go to the house, but she doesn’t listen.
Meanwhile, DA Jennifer Sallison is back at the precinct talking to her boss about Wyatt’s. George(her boss) tells her that the Cryers and Harringtons are both notorious and powerful; she just needs to drop the entire case. The only way she can convince him that the case is worth pursing is if she finds the car – remember, Veronica still has it.
Then we go to Celine Gonzales’ house, where she is watching the coverage of the funeral on the news. While she’s watching it, her son Carlos, who is also Jim’s son, comes in. She finally confesses to him that Jim fired her, so she doesn’t have a job. She also tells Carlos that she is still in love with Jim and she knows that Jim still loves her. She also tells Carlos that he should be just as sad since his half sister is gone(*Spoiler Alert* this little hints basically confirms that Amanda, contrary to what some viewers believed, is not Celine and Jim’s daughter. We still don’t know about Wyatt yet.). Despite Celine’s attempts to defend the love of her life, Carlos tells her that Jim has never cared anything about them and she needs to move on with her life. I want to know the whole story about them; seems like we aren’t hearing all the facts…
Back at the Cryer house, people are everywhere. Maggie Day meets some man outside who has pictures of Benny and Veronica 12 hours beforD doing their business in David Harrington’s truck. Of course Maggie is shocked, but since she is still feeling David, I’m sure she was a bit excited. Then out of nowhere Melissa shows up – Lawd. She first speaks to Veronica and David spots them talking, so he walks up. The three venture off to go find Jeffrey. This oughta be interesting…
Speaking of Jeffrey, he’s the next Haves and the Have Nots character we get to catch up with! Jeffrey walks into the kitchen to see Wyatt is up to, which is drinking, like always. He tries to talk to him about the drinking, but Wyatt’s in the mood to make jabs. He asks Jeffrey about him and Landon. When Jeffrey didn’t speak right away he said, “What? Cat got your tongue? Or maybe something else?” My jaw dropped when he said that!
I’m sorry, let me get back to the recap!
Jeffrey just told him straight up – “We did it, and it was good!” – well dang, J! It’s like that?!
Then Jeffrey has the audacity to question Wyatt’s sexuality! Wyatt tells him another painfully hilarious fact, “This ‘big dream’ ain’t happening.” I think you guys caught what he was referring to. If not…then you’re obviously not old enough to be reading this or watching the show! Now, moving on….
When Wyatt leaves, here comes Landon. Landon tells Jeffrey that he kind of understands why he’s attracted to Wyatt, but he’s not interested in Jeffrey at all. Landon knows Wyatt’s not gay at all and tells Jeffrey that he needs to let it go. When Landon tells Jeffrey that Wyatt doesn’t want him, Jeffrey says, “And I don’t want you.” Landon reminds him that he wasn’t saying that when they were in that hotel room. BOOM! Jeffrey says one time is all for them. Now they’re mad at each other. Then right on cue, Veronica, David, and Melissa walk into the room. There’s a bunch of awkward tension and Landon finally leaves. The Veronica announces her departure, telling David that she is leaving to “get more even” – AKA, she’s going to go mess around with Benny again. Even though Jeffrey tells Veronica that he doesn’t want to talk to her of Melissa, David also leaves the room, with Melissa being the only one left. Jeffrey tells her that she needs to leave, but she just keeps saying that she can’t and she’ll be waiting for him in the other room. We’ll get back to that insanity later.
Maggie runs into David in the hallway and asks to talk to him in private. She tries to tell him that she sees how Veronica treats him and that he deserves someone that can treat him the way he deserves to be treated. She also stated that the idea of that makes her want him even more. Maggie even hints at him about her knowing about the fire and Veronica’s attempt to kill him, but he tries to play dumb. He tells her that “she’s never been this bad before,” and she’s still his wife. Seeing that she’s lost that battle, she takes things a bit further – she asked him where his truck is. Of course he doesn’t know and still doesn’t pick up the hints – David is a mess. She tells him to ask Veronica, and now he’s concerned. She almost shows him pictures, but she decides against it and walks out the room. Maggie, you had your chance! You should have taken it!
Melissa’s still out in the living room looking crazy. Jeffrey walks out and sees her, and you know he’s not happy. He tells her to get up and asks the valet to get her car, but she begs him not to make her leave and kept saying that she has to stay. When they both question her about what’s really going on and why she is trying so hard to be with Jeffrey, she finally spills the tea:
Melissa wasn’t paid to be with Jeffrey; Melissa’s mother borrowed a half a million dollars from Veronica to pay for her father’s medical bills(he has cancer) and for a business they had. The business began to fail and with his medical bills, they weren’t able to make the payments to pay Veronica back like they needed, so Melissa was used as blackmail – if she could seduce Jeffrey, get him to sleep with her, and she get pregnant, forcing Jeffrey to marry her, everything would be fine. However, the time she was supposed to conceive, Mother Nature got in the way and messed everything up. To make a long story short, she’s pregnant….just not by Jeffrey, apparently.
But Candice doesn’t believe it and tells her to meet her and Jeffrey at the hotel later. She also tells Jeffrey to buy a bunch of pregnancy tests. After that, Candice goes into the house.
Candice is fussing with Hanna and Wyatt, who are telling her she shouldn’t be there, when Katheryn walks up and tells them that it’s okay; she invited her. Katheryn and Jim welcome her and the three go into the study to talk. Candice talks some nice trash to them, but both Jim and Katheryn just look at her – it’s so weird! Finally Katheryn asks Candice what she did to Amanda. Candice lets them know that she had no part in Amanda’s death and asks them what they did to her. Finally Candice tells them that she has to go. Right as she’s walking away, Katheryn knocks Candice over the head with a bottle of liquor, knocking Candice out cold. She calmly walks out of the room, Jim following behind her.
That’s the episode!
So my thing is, how much more does Veronica have to do to David for him to get a backbone and leave her?! Also, what is Quincy going to think when he finds out Veronica has been sleeping around with Benny – because we all know they had a weird gangster love affair going on too!
And here’s another thing: there’s some buzz going around about the professor that raped Amanda back in season one. Some people are wondering if Amanda’s death really wasn’t a suicide and that maybe he had something to do with it. What do you guys think? Could it be possible?
